Busy Busy Busy!

Okay ya'll, it's Monday and things are getting off to a bumpy start...but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I know I told you a while back about a free site called and how great it was. Well, I just discovered today that it's not so great and not so free anymore either:/

I went to take my sale down and discovered that you now have to purchase credits to use the service. I guess I wouldn't be to upset to buy the credits but this service was pretty much just a want not a need. I don't need to use it especially since Etsy now has coupon codes. If I want to put something on sale I can just offer a coupon code and guess how much that costs? Yep, you got it a big whopping nothing. (another reason I love Etsy so much). Another downer to this site is that once you put your items on sale and you decide to take the sale down early, your listings will stay as is. I think this is also the case if you let the sale run it's course. I needed to change some things and ended up having to edit every single listing in my shop that said "on sale" as well as the price. My recommendation: don't use etsy on sale unless you have the extra cash. Even then I don't think it is worth it but maybe down the road I might consider it.

Anywho, I wanted to share my exciting news with all of you! Our offer on the house was accepted and we are set to move in early March. We have the inspection this weekend and I am really excited to see our home again. Now that we have some dates in hand I will be putting my shop on vacation on February 18, 2011. If you need a shop set before then now is a great time to get one:)

Today's tip is all about customer service. When a customer purchases a product from you it is important that you give them good customer service so that they will come back and purchase from you again. Another good tip that goes along with this is your packaging. Maybe wrap their item in a nice bow or enclose a gift certificate/coupon for a discount on their next purchase. This is a great way to let your customers know that you care:)

I think that is all from me for today. As I said before I will be on vacation in less than a month so get your shop sets now!!!

I'm back!

So after taking a few days off to rest I am feeling MUCH better! Thank you all who sent me well wishes, it was truly appreciated:) Now that I am back I just wanted to give everyone a run down of the events of the next couple of weeks.

I will be editing all of the listings in my shop. This will include updated font lists and how to purchase a made to match listing. There is probably more that I am forgetting but those are the top two for now.

I will also be adding more made to match options. There will now be made to match listings for the following items:

* Business Card Design
* Blog Banner
* Website Banner
* Fabric Label Design
* Sticker Design(any size)
* Return Address Label Design
* Product/Bow Card Design
* Gift Certificate Design
* Web Ad
* Business Marketing Kit
* Post Card Design

 The newest addition to the list is the Business Marketing Kit. It comes with the following items and any set can be converted into a BMK.

3 Banners(Main shop banner, sale banner, vacation banner)
6 Avatars(Main shop avatar, sale avatar, vacation avatar, reserved avatar, thank you avatar, new items avatar, custom order avatar)
1 Return Address Label Design (jpg file, you print)
1 Business Card Design(jpg file, you print)
1 Sticker design(your choice of size;jpg file, you print)
1 Blog Banner or Blog Button
1 Post Card OR Bow Card Design(jpg file, you print)
1 Gift Certificate Design(jpg file, you print)

As some of you already know, my family and I are moving in late February. I will be putting my shop on vacation for at least two weeks during this time. Once everything is moved and we are settled in I plan on doing some website work as well as working on some new designs for spring. I will not be available to answer convo's for a few days while our internet is down but I promise I will get back to anyone that has a question:)

I have been working very hard to get all sets to have a basic and premium listing. It is proving to be a lot of work and very time consuming but I have the first two pages of my shop finished. I just have to tackle the last two and I'm all finished. In the future I will be creating both listings when I add a new set to my shop, just to make it easier:)

Don't forget, you can change any shop set to reflect any font you would like. You can visit or browse through my shop if you don't see a font you like in the listing.

I think that is all for now. I will keep you all updated on exact dates my shop will be closed. If you are thinking about purchasing a shop set, now would be the time to do it since I will be gone for a few weeks:)

Yuck. I know Monday's are my blog days but I'm feeling a little bit under the weather. I've been so busy and haven't taken any time to rest and now it has caught up with me. I will be returning Wednesday with a new blog full of goodness:) Until then my shop is on vacation as well.

300 Sales say what?!

That's right! This weekend SRDS reached it's 300th sale! I never thought I would see the day where my shop would have that many sales. I would like to thank everyone that has supported me and my shop. Us Navy wives can't really get a regular 9-5 so it's such an amazing feeling to know that I can stay home with my kids as well as have an extra income. Thank you all again!

To celebrate 300 sales I wanted to share a coupon code to all of you lovely etsy shoppers. Use code 300SALECELEBRATION to get 10% off any order. This coupon is only good until January 12, 2011 so hurry up and get your set!

I also wanted to remind everyone that my shop will be on vacation starting around February 10th or so. I'm not sure exactly when I will be putting everything on hold. We still haven't heard back from the bank on our house so I will keep everyone updated on when the shop will be on vacation. I will probably have it on vaca for about 2 weeks or maybe more, I'm still undecided. I have a lot of re-working of my website and shop to do so we will see. It would be best if you are thinking about purchasing a set to do it now instead of later since I am unsure about how long I will be gone:) I will make sure I let all of you know though.

For today's tip I am going to write a little bit about blogging(and it's here, in my blog, haha!). All jokes aside, blogging is a great way to get the word out about your business. I like to use my blog to let possible customers know about upcoming sales, new items and even promotions. I love using my blog to help other sellers too and that is why I always add a tips and tricks section for new sellers. I've been using Etsy for about 2 years and when I first started out I was pretty clueless in comparison to now. I didn't use all of my tags when listing items for sale, I didn't blog, I didn't belong to a team. I just thought, hey I will list this item for sale and everyone will want it! Wrong-o. You have to use things like blogging, twitter and facebook to get your name out there. And now I am going to use my blog to show you some new designs I have made, yay for blogging!

So there you have it. I will be taking some time to develop some new designs when my shop in on vacation. I hope to have another 10 shop sets available to you by the beginning of March. Thank you again everyone for your continued support, it is REALLY appreciated!

Happy New Year!

Happy new year to everyone! The new year is starting off on the right foot over here at SRDS. My new years sale was a huge success and now I just have to get caught up on all of the orders, which I will be doing today. I have a list a mile long to finish but I think I can do it!

Speaking of doing things, I wanted to share my 365 blog with you all. A 365 blog is where you take a photo every day for the whole year and post it into a blog. I made a separate blog for this and you can see it  here I am super proud of it and I am excited to start posting!

For today's super Monday tip I am going to discuss team's on Etsy. Being a part of a team is a great way for you to promote your shop as well as promote your team member's shops. I belong to a team called Homefront Team and it is made up of military spouses. It is such a great team because we can all support each other since we are all going through the same difficult times. There are a lot of teams out there but if you can't find one that suits you, start your own!

New in my shop is made to match items. I know I have discussed this before but I want to go into more detail with it. I have been getting a lot of convo's lately where a buyer would like to purchase a shop set along with a bow card and web ad. I have made this VERY easy for you all to do! Just add the shop set you would like to your cart and then visit the made to match section. Find the made to match items you would like and add them to your cart as well. I have also made the made to match listings for banners and avatars as well. If you are a shop just starting out and only need a banner, you can purchase it for $5.00. The listing is only for a single banner and it can be the main shop banner, sale banner or a vacation banner. If you would like all three I would suggest purchasing a basic shop set. These are very affordable and come with 3 banners and 5 avatars! But as I said, if you are on a tight budget you can purchase just the banner to get started. The same goes for the avatars.

I am also happy to report that I am making some headway on getting a basic and premium listing for every set in my shop. I like the fact that I can offer the premium sets along side the basic sets so you the customer can see what the business card design will look like. Remember, the orientation can always be changed as well, just let me know prior to checking out. I still have a handful of designs to make into premium/basic shop sets but I'm getting there!

I hope everyone had a great new year. I myself have made a small-ish list of things to do not only this year but in all of the years to come. I am not making any new years resolutions, but rather new life resolutions. Your life is what you make it so go out there, do what you love and have fun!
